Earthbind® Prime works by binding loose fines and aggregates together, thereby strengthening and waterproofing the surface of unbound base materials prior to paving. The product is formulated to penetrate exceptionally well and performs especially effectively on unbound surfaces containing excessive fines. Once the water used for application evaporates, the cured residual will not wash off during rain events.
Earthbind® Prime is sold and shipped in concentrated form and is diluted with water prior to application.

Intended Prime Coat Functions
Earthbind® Prime is designed to function as a prime coat by:
- Penetrating untreated or lightly bound base materials
- Binding near-surface fines and reducing dust generation under traffic
- Conditioning the base surface prior to paving
- Forming a bonded interface between the base layer and the first asphalt lift
- Protecting underlying road base layers from moisture by providing a waterproof layer
- Reducing construction delays by allowing paving soon after application
- Allowing simple application using a water truck or pressurized distributor
- Enabling easy clean-up, as any uncured residual can be washed off equipment and vehicles with water
Environmental & Safety Characteristics
All components of Earthbind® Prime are considered:
- Free of hazardous solvents
- Non-flammable
- Non-corrosive to metals
- Not considered to leach into soil or groundwater
- Not considered harmful to aquatic or mammalian life
- Not considered carcinogenic
Application Rates & Performance
The general application rate for Earthbind® Prime, when used as a prime coat, is 0.60 gallons per square yard of a 1-part Earthbind® Prime concentrate to 5-parts water dilution (5:1, approximately a 17% solution). This equates to approximately 0.10 gallons of Earthbind® concentrate per square yard, typically applied in two passes.
Dilution ratios, concentrate concentration, and the number of application passes may be adjusted as needed to optimize penetration and infiltration based on site conditions.
Under typical conditions, the treated surface is traffic-ready in approximately 30 minutes and paver-ready in approximately 5 hours after application.
